Fillings
Restorative
About This Service
Uniq Dentistry restores small to moderate cavities with tooth-colored fillings for patients from North Hollywood, Valley Village, Toluca Lake, the greater Los Angeles area.
A filling repairs a tooth after decay or small damage has weakened the enamel and dentin. The damaged area is removed, the tooth is cleaned, and a restorative material is shaped to rebuild function. Tooth-colored composite fillings are commonly used because they blend with natural enamel and bond directly to the remaining tooth structure.
When a filling is recommended
Fillings are often recommended for small to moderate cavities, chipped areas, worn edges, or minor defects around older restorations. If too much tooth structure is missing, an inlay, onlay, or crown may be a stronger option.
Cavity treatment should include prevention
Repairing the tooth is only part of the plan. We also look at why decay started, including plaque buildup, dry mouth, diet habits, exposed roots, crowding, and home-care challenges.
Comfort during and after treatment
Local anesthesia keeps the tooth comfortable during treatment. Mild temperature sensitivity can happen after a filling, especially if the cavity was deep, and usually improves as the tooth settles.
The Process
Diagnosis
We confirm the cavity or damaged area with an exam and X-rays when needed, then explain the size and location.
Preparation
The tooth is numbed, the damaged structure is removed, and the area is cleaned for bonding.
Composite Placement
Tooth-colored material is layered, shaped, and hardened to restore the natural contour of the tooth.
Bite Check
We polish the filling and adjust the bite so the tooth feels comfortable when you chew.
Common Questions
If you were told you have a cavity or feel sensitivity when chewing, our team can evaluate the tooth and explain whether a filling is still the most conservative option.
